A long-standing CoatTech client producing metal fabricated parts needed to increase the throughput of its painting line without sacrificing coating quality. Hot-air drying cycles were long, and complex-shaped workpieces dried unevenly. CoatTech delivered and commissioned a through-type infrared (IR) drying and curing oven integrated directly into the existing spray-booth and conveyor line. The result: shorter curing cycles, more uniform surfaces, and a cleaner, safer working environment.

CHALLENGE Long drying times, uneven curing on complex parts, and limited line throughput. • Hot-air ovens reacted slowly • Uneven heat on curved surfaces • Bottleneck before final inspection |
SOLUTION Multi-zone IR oven with ceiling + sidewall heaters and zoned temperature control. • Top + dual-side radiant heating • Adjustable heater angles • Integrated with conveyor & booth |
RESULT Faster curing, uniform finish quality and measurable gains in daily throughput. • Shorter drying cycles • Even coating on complex shapes • Cleaner, safer operation |
The delivered system is a through-type infrared curing oven that works in line with the client’s spray booth and automated conveyor. Red short / medium-wave IR tubes are mounted on the ceiling and both sidewalls, radiating heat directly onto the workpiece surface from multiple angles. Stainless-steel interior panels, an aluminum profile frame, observation windows, interlocked service doors and a grated maintenance floor make the unit robust, serviceable and safe for continuous production.
Top-down view — multi-row IR tube array with observation window, service door and drag-chain cabling
Multi-angle radiation — ceiling + dual sidewalls eliminate cold spots on curved and fabricated parts
Zoned control — independent heating zones let the client tune flash-off and full-cure stages separately
Direct integration — conveyor interface and control logic synchronized with upstream spray and downstream inspection
Thermal & air management — exhaust, filtration and grated floor keep the cabin clean and manageable
Service-first layout — drag-chain cabling, access doors and removable panels simplify maintenance
Following commissioning, the client reported shorter curing cycles, more uniform coating surfaces and higher daily throughput — all while maintaining a cleaner and safer working environment. The modular design also leaves room to extend heater zones as production grows.
The table below summarizes the configuration delivered for this project. All values are tailored to the client’s workpiece size, coating chemistry and throughput requirements.

Through-type curing tunnel — multi-angle IR modules with double-door access
This project shows how a well-engineered infrared curing stage can remove a painting-line bottleneck without a complete line rebuild. For operations moving from hot-air drying to radiant curing — especially those applying water-based or multi-layer coatings — the gains in cycle time, energy response and finish consistency are immediate and measurable.
