1. Project Overview


A specialized service provider for the Oil & Gas industry required an advanced surface treatment solution to handle two distinct types of high-strength components:

Workpiece A (Drill Collars): Long, thick-walled heavy-duty tubular or solid metal pipes.

Workpiece B (Drill Bits): Irregularly shaped, compact components made of extremely high-hardness alloys.

Both components require thorough surface cleaning to remove heat-treat scale, rust, and contaminants before Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and premium protective coating.


2. The Challenge


The client’s previous manual blasting process faced several critical issues:

Labor Intensity: The heavy weight and length of drill collars made manual handling and 360-degree blasting extremely difficult and dangerous.

Hardness Obstacle: The extreme hardness of drill bits meant manual blasting often failed to achieve the required surface profile (anchorage pattern) consistently.

Inspection Standards: Oilfield tools require a perfectly clean surface for NDT to detect micro-cracks. Inconsistent manual cleaning led to high rejection rates during inspection.

We provided a High-Efficiency Suction-Type Automatic Conveyor Sandblasting System specifically reinforced for heavy-duty industrial components.


Key Features of the Solution:


Heavy-Duty Conveyor System: The machine features a reinforced roller-conveyor or belt system designed to support the significant weight of drill collars while ensuring smooth, continuous movement through the blast chamber.


Multi-Angle Automatic Nozzle Array: To handle the irregular geometry of Drill Bits, we configured an array of [Insert Number, e.g., 12] automatic swinging nozzles. This ensures that every thread, groove, and edge of the bit receives uniform abrasive impact.


High-Hardness Abrasive Compatibility: The system is optimized to use aggressive media like Brown Aluminum Oxide or Steel Grit, essential for etching the ultra-hard surfaces of oilfield tools to ensure maximum coating adhesion.


Advanced Dust Extraction: Given the high-volume production, our pulse-jet cartridge dust collector ensures the cabinet maintains negative pressure, providing a dust-free environment for NDT-ready surfaces.
